Something German
Disguised as fae versions of the keys, the group scouts the race track at Castle Twistspire. They're able to find Mint, but it appears the person they once knew is completely gone.
Session 75
After meeting up with Uhuris, strategizing, and resting, the group is ready to make some plans and do some reconnaissance regarding the devil race.
The Bear King is able to provide us with a very strong potion of glamor that uses undetectable illusion magic. The downside is that we can't choose what we'll look like, to the disappointment of Lotus who wants to appear as T, to perhaps convince Mint to work with us. Maltheo mentions that perhaps we don't need deception since we were friends once.
Uhuris describes this potion, and Maltheo, excited at the possibilities, throws it on the ground to see what happens: a silvery mist escapes the bottle and swirls all around us, performing quite a change in each and every person.
Cass appears as a pixie, with small dragonfly wings, but seemingly entirely inspired by the sea: she has flippers, a fishnet poncho, and decorative seashells in her hair.
Lotus is enrobed in an entirely white outfit, very mad-max-esque, with white shorts and overalls, the straps hanging down, using white rope as a harness that on one shoulder has a feathered pauldron, finished with a helmet featuring a white dove.
Maltheo seems to be a dark reflection of what Lotus now appears as, with brown leather, a cape of dark brown and chocolate feathers, covered entirely from his wrists to his belt, and finished with an owl's face.
Briya appears as a smaller elf, adorned with giant antlers, a vest made from brown fur, and many additional leather-fur accessories.
Æsheryn is now bare-chested, his arms covered in dark armor, feathered in black from his wrists upwards, and wearing a cowl in the shape of a crow's head.
Yahnist, also bare-chested, is adorned in leather pants, quite similar to the Bear King himself, with a wolf's pelt covering one side starting at the shoulder.
Popovsky has become quite the head-turner, in a very sexy, sultry spider-like appearance. Svelte and delicate, seemingly with a deadly balance between agility and striking power.
Monica has bunny ears, and very short shorts. They're soft to the touch.
After witnessing this transformation, Maltheo immediately wants to know, "Why are we the fucking keys?!" (Fish, Dove, Owl, Stag, Crow, Wolf, Spider, Hare, respectively)
Briya listens as Cass contemplates Harpy genocide, and other ways to perhaps end the Harpy-Fae war, whichever is the easiest. Briya thinks that raising the Harpy egg with magic, philosophy, and diplomacy will let them use her as a way to unite the harpies and bring peace. She then sits on the egg, as a harpy, but there's no effect.
Ready and disguised, the party leaves the Bear King's encampment to make our way to the location of the race. It's near Castle Twistspire, a keep featuring a gigantic single spire in the center that is made from midnight blue stone. There's an entire tent-city encampment surrounding the castle. Not so much an army as a gathering of disparate groups of many things. Carts, tents, stalls, people and devils.
Following the wall, it ends in a wide opening that seems to have been where a gate would have fit nicely, but it's now gone. A dug-out trail follows this wall, all around the shanty town, and toward the mountain the castle is built against. The group sees no indication of a visible portal like the one we came through in the material realm.
Lotus changes his appearance into that of one similar to T, to perhaps grab the attention of Mint, in case she spots us first. As we enter the town, there are devils everywhere. But we also see other folk here for the race. Some fae that appear to be here of their own volition, not under duress, but certainly down on their luck.
Maltheo gets a lead from someone on Mint, with them saying they've heard of a great racer in Raokan's court; "something about a plant name... 'Mint'?"
This inspires the group to use Locate Creature to find Mint, and are successful after traveling through the settlement to the eastern side. Here, it's much more Raokan-fanatical and almost exclusively devils. At the end of one alley, there's a black tent, a bit bigger than the rest. In front sits quite a large green female orc. She's wearing a black helmet, with only a slit visible for the eyes, and devil horns piercing through the top. Where Mint used to carry a flail and shield, she now seems to wield two longswords, void of all color. Simply a deathly pale white.
Next to her is a "devil's ride" motorcycle, very similar to the one we took previously. There are two impish devils wearing aprons and using tools, working on the bike. Using detect thoughts on her, we feel Mint, completely unmoving. Nearly void of all thought other than blackness and infernal words. It seems there is nothing left of the Mint we once knew.
