Let me take you to all of my portraits
Maltho and Kra'naelen catch up on correspondence while Prophet and Abrianna try to help Mint reconnect with past lives. Briya learns a lot of next steps she can take to learn of Xhorhasian plant life. The group reconnects to go shopping and are able to kill some surprise invading monsters.
Session 16
The group enjoys a good sleep and an amazing breakfast. We want to split into two groups: Maltheo and Kra’naelen need to search out an owlery to send a message to Uthodurn. They are able to do so, and Kra’naelen sends a message to the Diarchy. By total chance, there is a message waiting for Maltheo: Capital letter “E” (we assume Prince Eidys) is happy with your work and grateful for your service. Signed “R”. Bundled with it are a set of long leather strips of fabric — they could most likely be used as handwraps. They feel magic!
Prophet and Mint are heading to meet up with Skysibil Abrianna to learn about an exercise of the mind. Mint is excited to be fighting; can’t understand that it’s not with hands though.
Abrianna wants to try and find which of the two spirits that Mint might be. In order to do this, meditation starts. It’s beyond boring for Prohpet, and somewhat restless for Mint to get through. Something just isn’t working, and nothing seems to be happening. No connection with past spirits.
Briya goes to find a gardener to have a conversation with due to her not wanting to be around Prohpet. She meets up with a Snivferlin (a deep Gnome), who is a gardener. Briya introduces herself as looking for help with Xhorhasian plants. Possibly looking for ancestors of her origin’s native lands. Those that might be magical and/or bear fruit. (the local red city trees are from the Vermiloc Wood, but not quite as amazing as being there in person). The wood from that forest is quite sturdy and used lots in Rosohna, but most is sourced only from the periphery. Not many have gone into the deep center of the Vermiloc. (Beasts, spiders, dangerous things) Briya inquires as to where she might find someone with travel experience in there. Snivferlin posits that House Biylan would most likely be the best place to look into that.
She also learns of the “Arbor Exemplar”, a lone, giant tree that grows in the midst of the barren wasteland that is the Barbed Fields. It is four to five hundred feet tall, about 30 feet in diameter and the lowest branches are approximately three hundred feet from the ground, with a lush, leafed canopy defying the desolate barrens surrounding it. Simply put: it’s enormous and nearly impossible to explain in words. Briya frustrated at not knowing any of the local flora. Snivferlin says that if she goes to the Shadow Shire (region near the city) she could learn more. The plants in the local garden are just “pretty”.
Back to the meditation session, Prophet is answering some questions. "How long did it take you to reconnect with your ancestors?" He Doesn’t want to admit. Abrianna says Mint just needs to practice often, and perhaps hunting would would more easily reform the connection. Prophet asks if they should go hunting in order to rekindle the memories.
Maltheo has his new wrist wraps identified: They are the Fist of the Guiding Star. Definitely a power up!
With that good news, it's time to go shopping. The first store we're told to go to is Prophet’s Perfect Souvenirs. They have foam replicas of Prohpet’s past lives’ weapons and things. There's also a blacksmith shop. Finally we visit The Gallimagic Shop. But as we approach, a giant hole opens up in the side of a building! Indescribable snake-like skin monsters appear and attack us.
Guards show up conveniently after we defeat the intruders to talk about the hole that appeared and if anyone has seen anything like this before. The magic shopkeeper also shows up! He had been leaving his store and is completely terrified; he hears us talking about putting in a good word for a discount. But now it's time to head to see Velyn Theyliss at the embassy.
