I need to speak with D'jeri!
We learn more of the night pear, luxon beacon, and Kryn strategy as the battle starts. There are multiple fronts, but the Kryn seem victorious. Kra'naelen has a surprise.
Session 12
Tisiphone leaves to prepare for battle; Prophet wants to regroup with his devouts. We notice that Briya and Maltheo are missing and are told by a guard that they earlier left camp to relieve themselves. Prophet doesn’t care about Maltheo enough to go searching, and Kra’naelen wants to go to bed. We’re introduced to Steppenhoff (a mage) as we head into the tunnel toward the halfway exit, and in the meantime inform the leaders that Maltheo and Briya are missing.
The magic of the Night Pearl starts; the near-opening is emptying out with Xhorhasian soldiers as the night magic is taking effect. At the strategic oasis, Steppenhoff puts down the beacon and starts laying protection spells. The first is taxing and even freezes dust-motes where they are in the air durig the casting. It prevents movement, period. Or at least, 99.9%. It has a password phrase in undercommon “exalt me with your glorious light” that is revealed to Prophet. Tisiphone has the password to open/close the artifact.
As preparations are set, those who can long rest to be ready for the pre-dawn hours.
It's morning, and before sunrise (but sunrise is being prevented by the night pearl regardless). Briya ritually casts speak with animals and animal messenger to send Kranaelen the following: “we’re safe; Maltheo had business to attend to; watching from up in the mountains. Will try to find you or send another message soon.”
The oasis camp gets a message on the sending stone. “The attack has started. Please open the chest now. Let your infinite loop guide my immortal soul.” The Prophet opens the lead-lined chest, and reveals the dodeca-beacon. Glass-ish, glows white from the inside; not enough to be broadcasting light though.
We're ambushed at the oasis! A rat-creature, a dragonkin, and human woman and man all appear at the Oasis and begin attacking. The group puts up a good fight, and is successful from preventing the beacon from being stolen, but Kra'naelen dies a true death and is lost.
